Storage Devices and Storage Capacity

Secondary Devices :-

 Secondary storage refers to storage devices and media that are not constantly accessible by a computer system. Examples include external hard drives, portable flash drives, CDs, and DVDs. These devices and media must be either plugged in or inserted into a computer in order to be accessed by the system. Some of them are as follows :-

Hard disk
à     Hard disk: -
                   It is the main storage device. It consists of all of the computer’s item as well as documents created by using all software. It is situated inside the cup.

CD ROM
à       CD Rom: -
        It is stand for Compact Disk Read only memory. It is an offshoot of the CD audio disk.
Floppy Disk


à   Floppy disk: -
            Floppy disk is an input device which is used to store the data. It can store only 1.44 MB of data.

Memory

         Ã        Memory: -
          Memory is also storage device, which can help us to store out data or information. There are two types of memory
                                                       i.            Primary memory.
                         ii.            Secondary memory




à       Pendrive :-
Pendrive
Famously Known as thumb drive.  It is a portable devices used for transferring data and programs from one computer to another computer. One can use a pen drive to copy data, songs, games and programs from one computer to another computer. They are found in different storage capacities and different companies.  


Storage capability
C Computer has the ability to store very large storage capacity.
4 Bits = 1 Bit
4 Bits = 1 Nibble
8 Bits = 1Bysts
1Byte = 1 Character
1024 Byte = 1 KB (kilo Byte)
1024 KB  = 1 MB (Mega byte)
1024 MB = 1 GB (Giga Byte)
1024 GB  = 1 TB (Tera Byte)
